UPGRADES:

When a Local Government organization was faced with an out of support version of FileNet P8, DAS upgraded P8 v3.5 to v4.5. The successful upgrade included a hardware refresh, replacement of the Tomcat J2EE Application Server with Websphere, porting the custom applications and integration with Oracle Financials. The result: a FileNet P8 system on the latest version, all this with one vendor and one support system.

IBM/FileNet P8 v3.x to v4.5

• Web Application Server (webSphere included in P8 v4.5 now-no need to buy a product)
• DB2 Runtime included in P8 v4.5-no need to buy product)
• IIS not required for v4.5, .NET and ASP apps may need to be rewritten or an interpreter required for WebSphere
• Upgrade of Capture Professional to v5.1 required, apps written for Capture Professional 4.x may need to be rewritten
• Workplace XT for v4.5 changes UI, additional user training and reconfiguration of MyWorkplace pages may be required
• Large workflows no longer require separate PEP files, can be combined in v4.5

IBM/FileNet Panagon Image Services 3.x to 4.12

• Applications developed on Panagon v3.6 may not port to v4.12 without re-write
• Current Storage strategy may not be supported on v4.12
• Changes in block size of Security DB requires manual export, re initializing DB, and manual import.
• Regardless of whether Index DB is Oracle, MQ SQL, or DB2, there significant version changes.
• Multiple schema changes to Index DB.
• Upgrade plans must take client versions into account.
